German food is a treat for the tongue.  Although I've only eaten it a couple of times, it's been a delightful sensation each time.

 

Shiloh and I just happened to run across Helga's when we were out an about the other day, so we decided to give it a try.

 

This beautiful mural greeted us as we entered the parking lot.

 

Setting the scene for a delightful lunch date~just me and my girl ;)

 

The staff was friendly.

 

The atmosphere light and cheery.

 

Just right for a lunch out on the town(much better than peanut butter and jelly at home).

 

Even a coo coo clock.  Such fun!

 

Shiloh waited so patiently

 

I decided to have Sauerbraten with Potato Dumplings and Red Cabbage, on the recommendation of our wonderful server Chris(Thank you for your wonderful service).  Who was so kind as to explain in great detail how it was made.  The meat is marinated for 4 days, then braised for 4 hours, then served with this delicious sauce.  Quite a delicacy.  The potato dumplings were a new sensation.  I've never eaten anything quite like it. 

 

Shiloh had grilled cheese with spatzle.

Leadville Colorado and Southern Train-All Aboard

 

 

A train ride, can be a great family experience. 

 

It's a great way to see the mountains, without having to worry about who's going to drive.

 

The conductor even humored us, and let us get his picture.

 

Something about the motion, the chug-a-chug of the train, and the shrill whistle of the train revs up your emotions and puts you in the spirit for an adventure.

 

What a beautiful and glorious day it was.

 

So picturesque and sunny.

If you've been a reader long, I'm sure by now you're aware, that I enjoy finding kid friendly,

 

hands on, learning experiences for my children.

 

My friend Terilyn{we had a wonderful time, thanks for inviting us}, who's been there before,

 

suggested this outing with the kids.

 

We had a wonderful time, exploring the tee pees, log cabins,

 

machine shop,  and most of all feeding the chickens.

 

My older two girls decided to try their hand at catching them.

 

These foul were quite tame.  They had no problem, walking right up to them and picking them up.

 

I guess it didn't hurt, that we had food to offer them.

 

A covered (or in this case, an uncovered) wagon, is always a big hit. 

 

They love climbing inside.  For me that's always a good chance to take pictures.

 

I love this chair.  I would love to have one in my garden.

 

Someone with brilliant wood skills, made it.

Manitou Cliff Dwellings

 

Nothing defines western culture like old tales of Cowboys and Indians.

The ways they lived and the things did hold a certain intrigue for each and every one of us.

 

Taking a step into yesteryear at the Manitou Cliff Dwellings in Colorado Springs is a great way to satisfy some of that curiosity.

 

One of the things that makes this so awesome is it's accessibility.

Instead of roping off all the exhibits,

 

obligating a person to peer in wonder from a distance.

 

This tour allows you to actually crawl through, touch, and examine for yourself.

 

What a way to experience history for yourself.

If you're looking for a place to explore your artistic side, Sipping N Painting provides a unique experience in that venue.

 

 

 

Recently I joined a group of ladies from Mom's Club for a night out. 

 

We had a wonderful time painting Rivers Bend. 

The instructor gives you general instructions on what to paint while leaving the artistic details up to you.

 

I've never painted in a group setting, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Definitely something I'll have to do again sometime..

Don't think I'ld be brave enough to venture inside the Mill looks like it's going to collapse at any moment.
