The Butterfly Pavillion 

One of the best things,

about the Butterfly Pavillion bee collection,

is the viewing window.

Visibility without disruption has great advantages.

Keeping a mirked queen is annother great idea.  

Often finding the queen can be quite difficult.

Walking sticks, praying mantis, and tarantulas

are some of the other 

creepy crawlies found in the bug room.

Brave people might even decide to hold Rosie the tarantula.

We love the Butterfly Pavillion!

Visiting or friends

over Memorial Day

gave me a chance 

to check out her 

bee hives.

Seeing how other people

manage their hives gives a person ideas on what they might like to do differently.

It's funny how we change.

A few years ago

these multicolored boxes

would never have 

caught my attention.

I would have skipped right on by

barely noticing them.

Since we've been cultivating our own honey,

Seeing how other people manage 

their hives, suddenly is very interesting to me.

The log cabin look

of the 1860s

living farm

casts such a dramatic backdrop 

for the longhorn cows 

and white beehive boxes.

You can almost 

see and hear 

the would be

everyday bustle

of farm life.

The empty chatter of children

running and playing in the school yard.

So different from

todays children

glued to their devices.

Yesteryear's children 

knew how to entertain themselves.
