Half Moon Gulch 4 Wheel'n Experiences ~ Mt Champion Mill

If you're looking for a tough trail, Half moon Gulch is one fun drive.

Some people like to 4 wheel just for the experience of a tough climb, and getting good and stuck, 3 or 4 times.

For me, the beautiful scenery, mountain air, and nature all around are the most thrilling part of the adventure.

We summited Mt.Champion in July 2009 with our friends Adam and Nicole.

Due to the limited accessibility,  the cabin and various building found on this trail are very well preserved.

Providing a good look at the life of a Colorado Miner.

They definitely had a difficult life.

  1. I would enjoy the scenery, but leave the four wheels to others.

  3. Oh that was a difficult passage, is it more difficult to go on foot? I pity the car, LOL! But there is no alternative to a wonderful summit, and the bonding among friends in these situations are great.

  4. Our family took a difficult road in Arizona. The garmin suggested to go right. Right meant falling down 7,000 plus feet down. The road ended. Luckily, we had an area big enough to turn around in then headed back with our gas tanks on "E" and heading toward nightime. We had a lot of fun going up and going back down but it was stressfull. Relieved when we arriving back in civilization and a gas pump and a place to buy water.

Looks like you like adventures too.

  6. I really like the cabin shot with the two people in it. It looks like a great place to have a conversation! I came from Bella's 52 photos.

  8. We have 'roads' like that too and love 'em. We sometimes went at a pace of 4miles an hour, repairing bridges and shifting trees of the track. but they are the experiences one remembers best. Did you stay in the old cabins? Your kind seems to be also my preferred kind of travel. Lovely, lonely mountains scenery where one can still be in the wild.
