Four Mile Historic Park

Four Mile Historic Park

More Colorado History Four Mile House was the last stop coming west before reaching Denver.

The guided tour takes you through the buildings filled with artifacts from the old west.

The old saloon.

This gives cabin fever new meaning.  Can you imagine living in  small room like this?

Spinning tales of the old west.

and this is the refrigerator.

The girls were very excited about the horses.

The school house.

and the barn.  Did I mention I love barns?

Bird Watching ~ Mueller State Park ~ Fall Color ~ After the Fire ~Colorado Springs

Mueller State Park  has some great facilities for camping.

When we drove through, I managed to get a few shots of some Stellar Jay hanging around the picnic tables.

These guys look a little hungry.

I'm sure they manage to scrounge up some crumbs here and there.

South Platte River Road and South Foxton Road

The forest looks so bare after the fires.

Argo Gold Mine and Mill Ideho Springs Colorado ~ Reliving the Days of the Gold Rush

Argo Gold Mine and Mill

Visiting the Argo Mine has been on our TO Do list for quite some time.

It's quite an impressive mill.

Complete with its own Jail.  A great place for these two shady characters :)

Walking back into the cold, damp, dark, earth was quite an eye opener.   It's interesting to think that some people do this for a living.  I'm sure I would miss seeing the blue sky and open air, if I had to spend 12 hours a day in a hole in the ground.

Umbrellas to keep the sprinkles off.

The view from above is quite impressive.

All this mining exquipment seems ancient.

We tried our hand at gold mining.  It was much easier then when we tried it stream side in Leadville.

This was our tour guide,  he also gave us tips on panning for gold.

What a great tour.  We had a wonderful time.

Cherry Creek State Park ~ Bird Watching

Cherry Creek State Park is a wonderful place for flat land hiking,

boating,

bird watching,

biking,

horseback riding,

and a number of other activities.

It's a great place to escape from the bustle of the city,

and enjoy the wide open spaces.

Heritage Square

Children love amusement parks.

Whether they be GRAND and INTRICATE like Disney,

or simple and charming like your local carnival,

They all hold a certain intrigue.

Even for those of us, whose fascination has somewhat diminished from what it once held in our younger years.

We still love to see the joy on our children's faces as they partake in the festivities.

Their pleasure is brand new,

and full of life.

What a wonder, it would be like to rediscover the novelty of youth :)
