Georgetown Architecture and Historic Sites

Georgetown

Georgetown is filled with architectural wonders.

Many within simple walking distance of each other.

Providing the perfect opportunity for an afternoon or evening stroll.

Some brilliant bloke thought this lion provided the perfect ornate touch to guard his gate.

Historic storefronts.

Churches.

A firehouse.

Mansions with courtyards, and fountains.

Even a log cabin or two.  Love this tourist town.

Silver Plume

Silver Plume

Of the many elements that make up the broad spectrum of Colorado History,

Mining is one of the unforgettable factors.

Among many, Silver Plume leaves its mark as a mining town.

It's beautiful, style left over from yester year,

for us to admire and ponder.

I love it's simple elegance.

so Bold and ornate.

I can almost imagine ladies in fancy dresses, mixed with gunslingers,

cowboys, miners, and Indians.  The perfect setting for any good old John Wayne, or Lone Ranger Movie.

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater-How many steps are there?

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater

It's said that a person standing on the stage can speak

to a person standing on the top row,

without raising his voice.

We were unable to test this theory, due to a local group of instrumentalist taking advantage of the great acoustics.

They sounded amazing without any kind of microphones.

What an incredible place.

If I ever needed to perform(something that lies outside my scope of talents, making it an unlikely event), I would like to perform here.

Such a neat place.

Growing up in the area, I regret not having experience it's wonders sooner, and so relish the opportunity since it occurrence.

Calvary Episcopal Church in Golden

Ornate Architecture is one of the many things that capture my attention.

Calvary Episcopal Church was definitely a fascinating find.

The arches and flowers join in chorus creating a spectacular display.

So simple, ornate, and beautiful all at the same time.

How is that possible?

Something to ponder, and ponder again.

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater

If you've ever visited Garden of the Gods, or Roxborough State Park, you know they're places, you can visit again, and again, and again.

The beautiful red rocks, and geological formations are incredible.

This one even has a tunnel through it.

The girls loved hiking

and climbing

in through and around

the rocks

and caverns.

A future post will show you the wonders of the Natural Amphitheater.
